Emma Zanelli (NZ) is a New Zealand born freelance illustrator and graphic artist based in London. Her work is created with pencil and watercolour, then additional colour and detail is added digitally. She describes her work as seductive, strange and sardonic. Her main sources of inspiration are the women in David Lynch and Tarantino films — her muse is a hardened, unapologetic bombshell with a story to tell.
“I don’t want to just draw women simply because they are beautiful, I want to invoke a backstory for her character. I like to put her in a little movie. Who is she? What did she do? I like to think the women I draw are strong, outspoken and a little bit scary”
